Situated in the southeast of London near Plumstead and Welling in the borough of Greenwich, Willow Dene School provides high quality educational services for children with special learning needs. The school deals with a range of special needs including moderate, complex, severe, profound/multiple learning difficulties, Down's Syndrome and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Ages range from 3 to 11 years old, from foundation phase up to key stage 2 phase.The site is spread across four main buildings, surrounded by a very pleasant green learning environment. The school is well equipped to deal with the wide range of learning difficulties to enable the children to fulfill their academic potential. Facilities include three fully equipped sensory rooms, two soft play areas, a fully equipped ICT suite and four outdoor play areas. In addition every class is equipped with a variety of learning resources. Each class has at least two PCs and there are several Interactive Whiteboards. There are also several off-site facilities that the children visit, including two swimming pools and a horse riding facility.There are a range of health professionals on site, including speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, music therapists and two school nurses. There are two established and highly successful staff-run outreach projects, providing support and training for staff in mainstream schools in special learning needs.
